About Peter Amato

A life in music.

Songwriter · Producer · Music Programmer

Originally from New Orleans, Peter Amato moved to Los Angeles in 1991. His first publishing deal was with Jolene Cherry. He later became the first songwriter signed to Desmond Child’s publishing company, Deston Songs, and went on to sign publishing deals with Chrysalis Music and Perfect Storm Music Group.

Over the decades, Peter has written, produced and programmed music across a wide range of styles. His recording credits include work with Ricky Martin, LeAnn Rimes, Baha Men, Phillip Phillips and other artists, alongside collaborations with songwriters and producers throughout the music industry.

Peter’s music has also been heard in films and television series, from scripted productions to reality shows. Alongside those placements, Peter has served as a music programmer on NBC’s The Voice since Season 1. His work across songwriting, production and programming reflects decades of collaboration with artists and creative teams.

With an extensive history of music placements across television and film, Peter Amato brings an exceptional level of musical versatility to his work. Equally at home in pop, rock, country, hip-hop, R&B, indie and beyond, he approaches each genre with a deep understanding of its musical language, production techniques and defining characteristics. Rather than applying a signature sound to every project, Peter fully embraces the style and identity of the music he’s creating, delivering authentic, genre-specific productions that feel as natural as they are distinctive. His ability to move seamlessly between musical worlds has become a defining strength throughout his career as a songwriter, producer and programmer.
